Manufacture des Montres Niton S.A., a historic watch brand established in 1919, has introduced the PRIMA, its first new model since the company’s revival. The PRIMA reinterprets Niton’s original digital jump-hour display from 1928, featuring a distinctive “central totem” dial with a digital hour window at 12 o’clock, a rotating minute disc, and a sweeping seconds hand at 6 o’clock. The watch is housed in a rounded rectangular case measuring 27mm by 35.5mm and is powered by the in-house manual-wind NHS01 caliber.
The NHS01 movement is notable for its dual certification, holding both the Geneva Seal and ISO 3159 Chronometer certification, a first for an independent watchmaker. It offers a 72-hour power reserve and includes complications such as a stop-to-zero mechanism and a mechanical jump hour with an audible click. The PRIMA is available in a limited edition of 38 pieces, split evenly between platinum and rose gold, with prices ranging from 44,750 to 47,750 CHF.
**Why this matters**
The PRIMA marks the return of Niton as a contemporary watchmaker, blending historical design with modern mechanical innovation. Its dual-certified movement underscores a commitment to precision and craftsmanship, while the limited production highlights the exclusivity of the revival. This launch positions Niton as a notable player in the niche market of heritage-inspired luxury watches.
