A total of 422,960 postal ballots from expatriate voters registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app have arrived in Bangladesh in preparation for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum. Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the OCV-SDI project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed that 766,862 ballots have been dispatched to date.
The ballots are part of the efforts to facilitate voting for Bangladeshis living abroad, ensuring their participation in the national electoral process. The arrival of these ballots marks a significant step towards inclusive voting ahead of the scheduled elections.
**Why this matters**
The reception of expatriate postal ballots enables Bangladeshis living overseas to exercise their voting rights, contributing to a more representative electoral outcome. This process also reflects the government’s commitment to expanding voter access and incorporating the diaspora in national decision-making.
